
The European Commission is considering whether to include Apple's iMessage in the Digital Markets Act (DMA) but may not regulate it due to its lack of popularity with business users. The EU has tentatively concluded that iMessage does not meet the criteria to be designated as a gatekeeper under the DMA. Apple's iMessage was initially selected as one of the services to be regulated under the DMA, but Apple has contested this designation. Google and other companies have urged the European Commission to make iMessage interoperable with other messaging services.
